Our Apothecary
Nikki McClane, 1881 Salt Sanctuary’s Apothecary and Therapy lead, began formally studying holistic herbal medicine in 2010 at the Appalachia School of Holistic Herbalism in Asheville, NC. Nikki now has over 1,000 hours of classroom study under her belt in a variety of holistic modalities ranging from herbal medicine, massage therapy, and energy work. She uses her expertise to inform everything we do at 1881 Salt Sanctuary. In addition to her own line of products, Blissfully by Nature, Nikki spearheads the creation of signature 1881 blends, which you will enjoy during one of our massages. We take great care in selecting ethical, sustainable, and effective products from herbalists and alchemists from our local region and beyond. Our herbal apothecary features herbal tea blends, extracts, elixirs, salves, massage oils, salt therapy products, and more to support a wide range of health and wellness needs across all stages of life.

Apothecary Featured Herb: Dandelion
If you’re like most Americans, there’s a good chance you’ve been trained to believe dandelions are weeds, but herbalists know better. You can use every part of these abundant little wonder flowers, and we’re going to tell you how!
Apothecary Featured Herb: Mugwort
This time of year, we like to embrace the shift of energy made so apparent with the strong winds of Spring. That’s why our March herb is the powerful mugwort!
Apothecary Featured Herb: Our Favorite Aphrodisiacs
What do you think of when you hear the word aphrodisiac? If you think it’s strictly sex, then we can’t wait to introduce you to these wonderful February herbs. Our apothecary lead, Nikki McClane, loves that aphrodisiacs go well beyond libido. They actually work with the nervous system and bring us into our heart centers…
